Home made soda
I just started making home made soda. The recipes are all over the web and there is as many different ways to make soda as there is recipes. I have read a few web sites and even a book on wine that has a portion for home brew soda. I have chosen a recipe for cream soda that looks easy. Here is where I found the recipeĀ www.hubpages.com Here are the ingredients:
2 liter soda bottle
1 cup of cane sugar
2 liters bottle water
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp champagne yeast or bread yeast what ever you have
Now clean out the soda bottle turn upside down and dry completely. Using a funnel pour in the cup of sugar, add the yeast put the cap on the bottle, shake well until the yeast and sugar are mixed. Then fill the bottle half full of water and shake until all the sugar has dissolved. fill bottle rest of the way, leave about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of space from the top for air. let sit in room temperature for 4 days or until the bottle is firm, put in the frig to stop the fermentation let cool and enjoy. there will be some sediment on the bottom of the soda bottle, don’t use the last few inches of soda.
I used this recipe and used the champagne yeast. The bottle was so hard after 24 hours I thought it was going to burst. But I let it sit for the whole four days. The soda was great, very good taste. It did have a slight yeast taste and a strong yeast smell. I’m currently trying other methods of making soda.
